An employee of the "Food Stamp" office in Texas .... writing about the system that is crumbling from the inside and the outside, all in the name of Politics. **I'm writing this as a private citizen of the State of Texas--I do not claim to represent the opinions of HHSC**

I am so frustrated and I have only been w/the agency a year. I work in South Texas and these people are as ignorant, and backwards as the day is long. Communication is at 0%. Noone listens, or has a clue what the other is saying. Then add me, who comes from the real world, and anywhere other than South Texas is the real world, well, I am tired of it. My boss is over 2 offices and he is a buffoon. He is constanlt flustreed and he lets the women from both offices have their way. Absenteeism is rampant, and ethics have been questioned on behalf of a few employees. This added on top of having to train new workers....Our Worker IV told us after training, that she was NOT our mentor. The older workers ignore us all day. These are the ingredients that make up the incomepetence.
Nita, I agree it is out of control. I worked here back inthe 90's when the agency was ran correctly. we were best in the nation at timeliness, and payment accuracy. Just certify the cases and move on. That's what they want afterall, more people dependent onthe government, so when they go to implementing new policies, the government already has them. Hang in there. You are needed, not by the people you work with, but the people you serve. I left and came back to the agency, just with the sole purpose of helping the clients. I do my job, don't get me wrong, just focus on the task at hand and let all that other stuff float away. Stop and take a deep breath. You will be okay.
The agency has gone to hell. I can't wait to get out. I haven't applied for this many jobs since I was fresh out of undergrad. This is the most unorganized and chaotic environment that I've ever worked in. Its getting to the point where you don't have to verify anything anymore. I wonder what QC is going to do when they ask for a file and the only thing in the folder is the 1009.
REGION 4 IS TO ROLL OUT IN NOVEMBER TO TIERS. OH JOY!
